PNF Stretching (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation)
are stretching techniques commonly used in clinical environments to enhance both active and passive range of motion with the ultimate goal being to optimize motor performance and rehabilitation. The literature regarding PNF has made the technique the optimal stretching method when the aim is to increase range of motion, especially in short-term changes. Generally an active PNF stretch involves a shortening contraction of the opposing muscle to place the target muscle on stretch, this is followed by an isometric contraction of the target muscle. PNF can be used to supplement daily stretching and is employed to make quick gains in range of motion to help athletes improve performance. Aside from being safe and time efficient, the dramatic gains in range of motion seen in a short period of time may also promote compliance with the exercise and rehabilitation program improve performance.
Trigger Point Therapy ( Knots )
Trigger point massage, sometimes called neuromuscular therapy, is a very effective way to address those pesky knots that give you both pain at the trigger point itself and often at distant, apparently unrelated areas in your body.
Therapeutic Ultrasound
Using the Ultrasound waves to penetrate the soft tissue, like tendon, ligaments and muscle.
Myofascial Release
Myo means muscle and fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, nerves, blood vessels etc.
So now we have understanding of the meaning of "myofascial release"--release of connective tissue that surrounds muscle tissue.
Relaxation
A relaxation massage is exactly what the name implies: a massage strictly for the purposes of rest and relaxation. This massage technique is not designed for therapeutic effects or for dealing with chronic pain or discomfort.
Cupping
Cupping is a method of treating disease that is caused by local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in a cupping jar, which is then applied directly to the skin. The underlying tissue is drawn up into the jar forming an area of blood stasis.
This appears to bruise the area, to at least can turn the area bright red. The amount of dark red or even purple blood drawn to the surface indicates the degree of stagnation, or limited blood circulation. Dark blood is a sign of heat and decreased bood flow, which in many cases in modern terms also can relate to the amount of toxin in the blood.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions.")
Acupressure Therapy
Is an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through "meridians" in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by hand, by elbow, or with various devices.
